Description	:	Lyle William Stewart was born November 23, 1921 to Margaret Mae (Schroeder) and William Stewart in Aurora, SD. He attended rural school and graduated from Brookings High School in 1941. He continued his education at SDSU. He farmed with his father and in 1945 he married Aline Baker of Sioux Falls, SD. He continued to farm and also worked for Robertson Auto Electric. In 1948 he started his own business, Stewart's Construction, which he had until 1987 when he retired. He was a member of Morningside Community Church, singing in the church choir for over 50 years. His favorite singing was... Read More	Lyle William Stewart was born November 23, 1921 to Margaret Mae (Schroeder) and William Stewart in Aurora, SD. He attended rural school and graduated from Brookings High School in 1941. He continued his education at SDSU. He farmed with his father and in 1945 he married Aline Baker of Sioux Falls, SD. He continued to farm and also worked for Robertson Auto Electric. In 1948 he started his own business, Stewart's Construction, which he had until 1987 when he retired. He was a member of Morningside Community Church, singing in the church choir for over 50 years. His favorite singing was in male quartets. He also served on the church council, board of trustees and was youth leader along with his wife. He was also a member of the Golden "K". Lyle served on the Greenwood Cemetery Board, Retirement Center Board and Board of Directors of the Brookings Savings and Loan. He was well known for his love of people, sense of humor and wonderful tenor voice, having sung for several weddings and over 450 funerals. When asked by people if he would sing for their funeral he would quickly ask can you give me a date. Lyle loved his family and enjoyed being with them. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Aline; daughters, Gerelyn Kelly (Jim) of Hot Springs Village, AK and Diane Dirksen (Jay) of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Derek Dirksen and his wife Renee of Olathe, KS and Kristi Dirksen and fiancée, Keith Rhebb of Lincoln, NE; sister, Geraldine Traver of Brookings, SD and a host of friends. Lyle passed away August 8, 2006 at the Brookings Hospital, Brookings, SD. Funeral Services have been set for Saturday, August 12, 2006 at Morningside Community Church, Brookings. Visitation will be Friday, August 11, 2006 at Rude's Funeral Home, Brookings, SD.
