Description	:	Lynn G. Skellenger, age 88, of Lake Mills, died Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa. Funeral services will be 2 PM, Saturday, May 31, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with Pastor W. Paul Weeg officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Friday evening at Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills, IA and again one hour prior to the service at the church. Military rites will be performed by the Lake Mills Otto/Chose Post #235 and burial will be at Salem Memorial Cemetery in Lake Mills, IA Lynn was born February 18, 1920 in Lake Mills to William and Flossie Stewart Skellenger. He graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1938. Following high school he worked with his father in construction and housemoving until November 1942 when he was inducted into the service. On June 1, 1943 while home on furlough he married Eunice Moen at Salem Lutheran church. During his training Lynn contacted an eye infection which caused twenty-six ulcers on his pupil. After being hospitalized for 1 year and 7 days at Valley Forge General Hospital, Lynn was discharged November 1944 on permanent disability. Returning home to Lake Mills Lynn followed in his father's footsteps of housemoving. He and his brothers took their turn in the business until the middle the 1950's when Lynn became the sole owner. Lynn had to be busy. He was a member of the Lake Mills Volunteer Fire Department for 47 years. A member of the IOOF Lodge for 70 years and was on the state Lodge board when the Odd Fellows Home was built in Mason City. Lynn was a member of the Lake Mills Lions Club for 47 years and served as District 9X2 Governor in 1995-1996. As a member of Salem Lutheran Church he served on several different boards. Lynn is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Eunice; daughter Carol (Paul) Odegaard and grandchildren, Adam and Molly; brothers, Floyd (Verna) Skellenger, Northwood and Virgil Skellenger, Houston, Texas: sister-in-law, Addie Rolands and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: a daughter, Diane: grandson, Jessie Lynn Odegaard: brother, Leo: sisters-in-law, Ruth Skellenger, Julaine Jellum and Freddie Skellenger: and brothers-in-law, Ted Sydness, Clayton Rolands and Sandy Jellum. Lynn's family would like to thank the pastors of Salem for the physical, emotional and spiritual comfort given Lynn and his family during the lengthy illness and the last weeks of his life.
