Schmidt was born November 14, 1904 to Melvin and Mary Lynch and passed away April 5, 1988 at the age of 83 at her home in Haxtun. She was the fifth of 12 daughters born to Melvin and Mary Lynch, who moved to Colorado from Missouri in a covered wagon when Mabel was 4 years old. She was married to Otto A. Schmidt on November 15, 1922 in Arlington. To this union four sons were born: Otto T., Clifford L. L. Charles and Wilber L. All her married life was spent as a farm wife in the Wages community. She was an active member of the Wages Methodist Church, Wages Ladies Aid and Women's Society for many years. She loved to crochet and had made tablecloths, bedspreads and many other items too numerous to mention. She was preceded in death by her husband Otto A. Schmidt in May of 1977, one great grandson, one daughter-in-law and four sisters. She leaves to mourn her passing her four sons and their wives, of Burlington, Cashmere, WA, Haxtun, and Wages; 11 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren; seven sisters, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Services were held Saturday, April 9 at Wages United Methodist Church. Interment was in Holyoke Cemetery.
