Mabel Frances Bennet was born July 26, 1883 in Union County, South Dakota. As a child she moved with her parents to the Chatsworth territory. She was married in 1904 to George E. Van Allen at the home of her parents in Chatsworth. To them was born one son, Kenneth. Her husband died in 1945. Mrs. Mabel Van Allen, 68, died at the Hawarden Hospital September 8, 1951, after an illness of about two months. Mabel Frances Bennet was born July 26, 1883 in Union County, South Dakota. As a child she moved with her parents to the Chatsworth territory. She was married in 1904 to George E. Van Allen at the home of her parents in Chatsworth. To them was born one son, Kenneth. Her husband died in 1945. She was a member of the Methodist Church and was active in the woman's society of the church. She belonged to Loyal Chapter 204, Eastern Star at Hawarden, and at the time of her death was worthy matron. She was also a member of June Rebekah Lodge, of which she was a Post Noble Grand. She was a member of the Hawarden Women's club and was active in other civic organization. Survivors include her son Kenneth of Salt Lake City, Utah; two sisters, Mrs. Orin Harris of Akron and Mrs. M. O. Larson of Hawarden; three brothers, Lester Bennett of Santa Rosa, California, Conrad Bennett of Wilmington, Delaware and Kenneth Bennett of Hawarden; a granddaughter, Janice of Huron, South Dakota. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Methodist church in Hawarden with Rev. B. Roy Brown officiating. Mrs Ralph Gregg, Jr., sang Beyond the Sun Set and The Lord's Preyer. Loyal Chapter had charge of the graveside service in Riverside Cemetery, Akron, Iowa, with Mrs. Isabelle Walensky of Sioux City, District Instructor, as acting Worthy Matron.
