Description	:	We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mabel Laura Thompson Bretz, age 95, on July 15, 2021, due to complications following surgery. Mabel was born at home on August 12, 1925 in Laton, California to Vernon and Marian Thompson. After graduating from Hanford High School and working at a bank she decided to move to Spokane. Mabel met Jack Bretz on a city bus. It was love at first sight. They married on April 2, 1946. After her youngest child started school, Mabel went to work for Seattle First National Bank. Read More	We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mabel Laura Thompson Bretz, age 95, on July 15, 2021, due to complications following surgery. Mabel was born at home on August 12, 1925 in Laton, California to Vernon and Marian Thompson. After graduating from Hanford High School and working at a bank she decided to move to Spokane. Mabel met Jack Bretz on a city bus. It was love at first sight. They married on April 2, 1946. After her youngest child started school, Mabel went to work for Seattle First National Bank. She really enjoyed working for the bank and was their first computer operator. After twenty-five years she retired in 1982. Mabel loved her family, reading, playing cards and board games (especially Scrabble) and traveling in their RV. For years Mabel and Jack went south for the winter. Mabel is predeceased by her husband, Jack, sisters Eunice Canen, and Barbara Holder, brothers John, Jim and Ben Thompson. Mabel is survived by her children Katherine (Fred) Wilson, Vernon (Nancy) Bretz, Marian (Mike) Whitney and Karl (Sherry) Bretz. She is also blessed with ten grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, eleven great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mabel loved our Lord Jesus and used every opportunity to tell others about Him. Graveside services will be held at Fairmount Memorial Park Cemetery, 5200 W. Wellesley Ave on Friday, July 30 at 12:30.
