Description	:	Mabel R. Carter, 96, of Keosauqua, died at 10:22 am Aug. 30, 2012, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua. She was born April 3, 1916, in Bonaparte to Glenn and Anna Houser Davis. She married Charley Carter Nov. 2, 1936, in Memphis, MO. He died April 19, 1979. They farmed in rural Mt.Sterling and retired to Keosauqua. Mabel had resided at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren for the past years. She was of the Methodist faith and had attended the former Mt.Stering United Methodist Church. Surviving are a son, Harold(Carol)Carter of Keosauqua; a daughter, Irene(Dan)Stagers of Border, Texas; four grandchildren, Deanna Carter, Karen Ruter, William Baker and Christy Cronk; three great-grandchildren, Elijah and Ariel Ruter and Elish Conrad; three stepgranddaughters, Roxanne, Tiffany and Shelby Stagers; and five stepgreat-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Pearl Chambers and Ida Mae Snyder. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua; with Rev. Bill Shewmaker officiating. Burial will be in Baonaparte Cemetery. Visitation will open at 4 pm Monday at the funeral home with family present from 5-7 pm. Memorials to Bonaparte Cemetery.
