She died Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of eighty-six. Mabel was born in Goodrich Township, Crawford County, Denison, Iowa. She was baptized in Christ on November 29, 1921, at the Friedens Evangelical and Reformed Church in Schleswig, Iowa, and later confirmed there on March 21, 1937. She died Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of eighty-six. Mabel was born in Goodrich Township, Crawford County, Denison, Iowa. She was baptized in Christ on November 29, 1921, at the Friedens Evangelical and Reformed Church in Schleswig, Iowa, and later confirmed there on March 21, 1937. She received her education in a rural school near her home. On January 29, 1941, Mabel was united in marriage to William Luth at the Friedens Evangelical and Reformed Church. The couple made their home on a farm near Climbing Hill, Iowa, until moving to a farm near Ricketts, Iowa, where they lived until retiring in the early 1970's and making their home in Denison. After moving to Denison, Mabel babysat for Linda Henen and Dr. RoseMary Mason and Dr. David Tan Creti until retiring in June 2002. Mabel's biggest love was for her family and her flowers. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing bingo and the challenge of word games. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William, one brother, Leonard; son-in-law, Henry Jessen Sr. and daughter-in-law, Rosie Luth. Survivors include one daughter, Laura Lee Stevens and her husband, Darrell of Battle Creek; one son, Ronald Luth of Denison; three grandsons, Henry (Hank) Jessen and his wife, Bev of Battle Creek; Randy Luth and Richard Luth, both of Denison; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jordan Jessen; one sister-in-law, Lois Voss of Walker, Iowa; other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 24, 2007 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. Rev. Kurt Kaiser and Vicar Glen Meyers officiated the services and grave side rites held at Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig, Iowa. Organist Karen Kahl provided accompaniment for the congregational hymns "Rock of Ages," "I'm But A Stranger Here," and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives." Dr. RoseMary Mason served as violinist, playing "Jesus Shall Reign," by Hatton. Those serving as honorary pallbearers were Michelle Harrington, Matthew Tan Creti, and John Tan Creti. Those serving as pallbearers were Richard Luth, Jordah Jessen, Randy Luth, Luke Tan Creti, Richard Voss, Jacob Jessen, and Terry Voss. The family invited everyone in attendance to join them for fellowship and lunch served by the Dorcas Society. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of the arrangements.
