Born in Jacksonville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Darst. She was an elementary school teacher and principal, retiring in 1972 after 45 years of service. She had worked in schools in Struthers, Lowelville and Athens. Miss Darst was an honorary member of the West Elementary, State and National Parent-Teacher Associations. Read More	Mabelle Darst ATHENS - Mabelle Elna Darst, 93, of Athens, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at Hickory Creek Nursing Center, The Plains. Born in Jacksonville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Darst. She was an elementary school teacher and principal, retiring in 1972 after 45 years of service. She had worked in schools in Struthers, Lowelville and Athens. Miss Darst was an honorary member of the West Elementary, State and National Parent-Teacher Associations. She also was a member of First Christian Church and the Christian Women's Fellowship. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother and his wife, Milford and Ruby Darst; two sisters, Ramah McCune and Carol Darst; and a brother-in-law, Harold McCune. She is survived by three nephews and their wives, Harold Kay and Judith McCune of North Canton, Ohio, Dennis and Diana McCune of Worthington, Ohio, and Robert and Izetta Darst of Brookings, Ore.; a cousin, Mrs. Melville Gill of Huntington, W.Va.; and a special friend, Mrs. James Mallett, formerly of Athens. Miss Darst has donated her remains to the Ohio University Willed Body Program. Plans for a memorial service will be announced by Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens. Athens Messenger October 14, 1999. ATHENS - Memorial services for Mabelle Darst, 93, of Athens, will be Monday at 11 a.m. at First Christian Church, 24 W. State St., conducted by the Rev. Hal Zug. Arrangements are by Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church. Miss Darst, who retired as principal of West Elementary School in 1972, died Oct. 13, 1999, at Hickory Creek Nursing Center. Athens Messenger October 22, 1999.
