Born in Cabell County, W.Va., son of the late Charles and Margaret Jarvis Darst, he was a retired employee of the F.J. Beasley Co., Athens. Surviving are his wife, Ruby T.; one son, Robert E., of Port Orchard, Wash.; three sisters, Miss Mabelle Darst, principal of the West Elementary School in Athens; Mrs. Ramah McCune, Columbus; and Miss Carol Darst, Marietta; and two grandchildren.
