Mrs. McPherson, mayor of Oskaloosa from 1977 to 1981, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1993, at her home. She was born Nov. 17, 1918, at Oskaloosa to Charles M. and Sadie Jane Brown Metzger. She was a lifelong resident of Oskaloosa. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1936, and attended Kansas University for a year. She taught grade school from 1937 to 1942. She was a lifelong resident of Oskaloosa. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1936, and attended Kansas University for a year. She taught grade school from 1937 to 1942. Mrs. McPherson owned and operated Oskaloosa Flower Shop and Catering Business for 20 years. She and her husband operated a family farm. She was a member of the Oskaloosa Chamber of Commerce and was a recipient of the chamber's Citizen of the Year Award. In 1992, she was inducted into the chamber's hall of fame. She was a longtime 4-H leader and received the Jefferson County Extension Council's Appreciation Award in 1990. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women in Oskaloosa; other memberships included Rebekah Lodge No. 747, where she served in local and district offices, Order of Eastern Star No. 62 and Nite Owls Extension Unit. She and her husband were foster parents. On April 18, 1942, at Topeka, she married Forrest Willard McPherson. He died Dec. 26, 1990. Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Ott, Billings, Mont., and Jane Young, Hiawatha; two sisters, Ellen Mohney, Ozawkie, and Annie Herring, Bastrop, La.; and three grandchildren. **************************************************
