Honorary escort was afforded by the Catholic Daughters of America, Our Blessed Mother Court #1926, Patricia Johnson, Doris Talbert, Margaret Goetzinger, Irene Lighthart, Eileen O'Connell, Marion Schommer, Bernadette Kurt and Sr. Delores McAllister. Burial was held in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cascade. She was born Oct. 15, 1912, in Cascade, daughter of Leo Francis and Florence (McQuillen) Skahill. She was a graduate of the former St. Martin's High School in Cascade. She was a graduate of Clarke College in Dubuque, where she received her teaching degree. On June 8, 1940, she was united in marriage to Frank Kasper at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade. She taught school in many of the area schools until her retirement in 1975. She was a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Our Blessed Mother Court #1926. She is survived by one brother, Robert L. (Anita) Skahill of Dubuque; two sisters, Irene Neyens and Catherine "Kate" (John) Supple, both of Cascade; eight nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank Kasper, on June 19, 1972; and two brothers, Srgt. Bernard L. Skahill, who was killed at the end of World War II in Germany on April 8, 1945; and Raymond J. Skahill on March 22, 1995. A Madeline C. Kasper memorial fund has been established.
