Read More	Mrs. Elmer Meyer, 40, died Friday at the Brodstone Memorial hospital after a lingering illness. Madeline Katherine Christensen, daughter of Mads and Anna Christensen, was born at Abdal March 11, 1916. Except for two years, one spent in Denver, Colo., and one at Ogden, Utah, she lived in this community all her life. She was baptized in the Bethany Lutheran Church at Ruskin, and was confirmed in the Christian faith at the Bethel Lutheran church at Abdal. She graduated from Superior high school in 1933, after which she taught 10 years in the rural schools of Nuckolls county. During this period she attended teachers college at Kearney three summers. On November 27, 1941, she was united in marriage to Elmer Meyer. To their union were born three children, a son, Delmer Lee, and two daughters, Carol Joann and Sharon Beth. She was a devoted wife and mother. Mrs. Meyer gave generously of her time and talent to all worthwhile activities in the community. In her church she was a "strong right arm" to her pastor, as Sunday School superintendent and teacher, president of the Ladies' Aid, and in other capacities. Her energetic and able leadership and service in the name and spirit of her Savior, Jesus Chris, has been a blessing to us all. Her witty anniversary poems, always ending in a prayer for God's blessing on the folks honored, will be particularly missed. Seemingly, God filled her short life full of blessings for herself and for all in her home, church, and community; for which we praise His holy name. After a long illness, she experienced a peaceful death and a release from her sufferings on August 10, 1956, at the age of 40 years, four months and 29 days; having committed herself and loved ones to Him in whom she believed and was fully persuaded that He was able to keep that which was committed unto Him. In addition to her husband, children, and parents, she is survived by her twin brother, Hans Christensen of Abdal, one sister, Mrs. Marie Bolinger of Buena Park, Calif., five nephews, six nieces, and other relatives and friends.
