On Aug 27, 1955, at St. Rose Roman Catholic Church, she married James L. O'Neill. Surviving are two sons: James A. (Christine), Lima, and Micheal E. (Merlene), Galena; a daughter, Madelon 'Mimi' (Rob) Maley, Lima; a brother, Edgar 'Buddy' (Betty), Detroit, MI; two sisters: Dorothy (Bernard) Murray, Fairborn, and Susan (Dr. C. John) Stechschulte, Ocala, FL; and four grandchildren. Most remembered for two delightful attributes, she had a warm, endearing smile that never knew a stranger and an unsurpassed love of music. The late Leona Copeland was her beloved piano teacher. A 1950 graduate of St. Rose High School, she played the organ for Masses as a grade-schooler. In the 60s and 70s, she played the organ for Masses at St. Gerard's. She majored in music at Mount St. Joseph College, 1954. After briefly teaching music in Russia, OH, she returned to Lima, where for 50 years, she was an in-home, private piano teacher on Judith Street for generations of students. She was proud to be Monsignor E.C. Herr's musical director for his remarkable Lima Central Catholic High School senior class musicals of the late 50s and early 60s. She was past president of the Ohio Music Teachers Association, the Etude Club and served several terms as president of the Friends of Music of Northwest Ohio, an organization that brought luminary talent to Lima's Memorial Hall such as Beverly Sills, Duke Ellington, Liberace and the Boston Pops Orchestra. The last few decades of her life were spent wintering on Pine Island, FL, with her husband. There, she enjoyed reading, bicycling, swimming, smelling the flowers, playing Sudoku and picking the delicious, abundant, fresh "star fruit" from the local trees, for their guests from Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Gerard Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jim Szobonya officiating. Private family burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery.
