Mrs. Corrie was born Jan. 19, 1922, in Hawarden, the daughter of Harry and Margaret (Thies) Hodoway. She graduated in 1939 from Hawarden High School and from cosmetology school in Sioux City in 1940 While working in Ida Grove, Madelyn met and later, on July 18, 1943 married Roger Corrie in Reno, Nev. They moved to Richmond, Calif., where Madelyn was employed as a dental assistant. In 1949, the couple returned to the Corrie family farm, where Madelyn lived the remainder of her life. She took care of her invalid husband for 27 years with loving care. Madelyn was a 4-H leader for 10 years. Her greatest joy in recent years was sharing Beanie Babies with children she knew. She also enjoyed making Christmas ornaments for her daughter's kindergarten class and other friends. Survivors include her husband; a daughter Lana Hoey of Decatur, Ill.; three grandchildren, Becky and her husband, Fred Woltz, Amy and her husband, T.J. Barber, and Daniel Hoey, all of Decatur, Ill.; two great-grandchildren, Jessica Scroggins and Christian Barber; one brother and his wife, Robert and Marian Hodoway of Hawarden; and a sister and her husband, Helen and Gerry Maurer of Long Island, N.Y. Her parents preceded her in death. -------------------------
