Madge was born on July 21, 1925, in White River, South Dakota, to Lloyd and Persis (Chapin) Fiscus. She married the love of her life, Howard Franey, on August 28, 1949, and the two remained happily married for 64 years until her passing. Madge was born on July 21, 1925, in White River, South Dakota, to Lloyd and Persis (Chapin) Fiscus. She married the love of her life, Howard Franey, on August 28, 1949, and the two remained happily married for 64 years until her passing. Madge started her young life as a teacher, but left the profession to care for her growing family. She was a dedicated homemaker, who loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She was an excellent cook and baker. Her dedication to cooking was evident in the numerous cookbooks in her collection, as well as the fact that her journal was a mixture of recipes and notes from the day. Her other hobbies included gardening, canning, quilting, camping, and enjoying nature during her many long walks. Madge was a member of Eastern Star for 69 years. Madge is survived by her husband, Howard Franey, of Elk Point; her children, Constance (Bruce Chapman) Franey of Washington, Missouri, Gary Franey of Elk Point, South Dakota, and Harold (Rebecca) Franey of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; her grandchildren, Adam Franey, of Arthur, North Dakota, Ashley Franey of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Neil Chapman of Washington, Missouri, Megan (Phillip) Thomas of Dennison, Texas, and Garrett Franey of Dennison, Texas; her great-grandson, Luke Thomas of Dennison, Texas; her brothers, Alvin (Arlene) Fiscus of Bozeman, Montana, and Geal Fiscus of Ozark, Missouri; her sisters-in-law, Marian Fiscus of Omaha, Nebraska and Mary Franey, of Mitchell, South Dakota; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Persis (Chapin) Fiscus; her daughter, Susan Franey; and her brothers, Melvin Fiscus, and Maynard Fiscus.
