I. M. Grigeby, D. D., assisted by Rev. Grant Parker of Glenwood, had charge of the service. Organ music, played by Mrs. R. R. Honeyman, preceded the service. Mr. J. A. Thorson, Mrs. M. W. Taylor, Frederick Larson, and R. R. Honeyman, accompanied by Mrs. R. R. Honeyman, sang, “Rock of Ages.” A solo, “Be Still My Heart” was sung by R. R. Honeyman, who was accompanied by Mrs. Honeyman. Pall bearers were H. F. Cheney, Chas. Vestal, Will Oliver, George Douglas, Elmer A. Bass, and A. F. Smith. Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Honeyman, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Cole, Mrs. Wilbur Morrison, and Mrs. A. F. Smith were in charge of the floral offerings. The ushers were Wilburn Morrison and J. Earle Crawford. On December 4, 1877 there was born in the pioneer home of Isaac and Julia Warren north of Glenwood, their youngest son, Madison Clyde Warren. Clyde spent his boyhood in that community and attended both the local school and the West Liberty Methodist Church. In this church, standing on land donated by his father, he confessed his faith in Christ and became a member of the church. He continued his studies at Glenwood High School, riding to and from school on horseback. Then he spent four years at the State University of Iowa, receiving his degree in 1901. He was married to Mabel McGrew, December 24, 1903 and lived on his father’s farm near Glenwood. here their son, Lynn was born in 1906. The preparations for his life of farming and stockman, he chose and bought an improved tract three and one half miles northwest of Emerson. This tract he built upon, planted with trees, shrubs, and flowers, developed and added to and lived upon for practically the rest of his active life, making of it a real home and stock farm. They moved to this farm in 1907, where less than two years later the young wife and mother died. Mr. Warren and Edith Gilmore of Glenwood were married March 5, 1912. To this union were born three children, Merrill Gilmore, Charles Rolin and Clyda, now Mrs. Rollin Bass. Besides Mrs. Warren, the four children and one grandson, Rupert, Clyde is survived by two brothers, Charles Rollin of Glenwood, and Wilbur P. of Greeley, Colorado. Last fall Mr. and Mrs. Warren came to Emerson to make their home. His last illness was unexpected, short and severe, with death coming quickly at the Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs. The body was removed to the Comer Funeral Home here where it lay in state until the hour of the funeral. He will be greatly missed, not only by his family and friends, but in the church as well. The whole community relied upon his good judgment, his unquestioned recited and his Christian friendliness and enjoyed his crisp and pungent remarks on topics of the day. His wife was gentle and the elements so mixed in him that nature might stand up and say to the world, “This was a good man!” Burial was in the Emerson Cemetery. Clyde Warren, 63 prominent Mills county farmer, died suddenly Friday night in a Council Bluffs hospital where he had been taken the day before. His death came as a distinct shock to relatives and friends as he had been in the usual good health. An operation was performed which revealed a tumorous condition of the entire abdominal cavity. Following the marriage of his son, Merrill last fall, Mr. and Mrs. Warren moved to Emerson turning the farm over to their son and his wife. Work had been started on the foundation for a new residence on the farm which was to have been occupied by the son and his wife as Mr. and Mrs. Warren intended to return to their farm home this spring. He had been at the farm all day Thursday and assisted with the work. That evening he was taken severely ill and his condition gradually grew worse. He was born on the Warren homestead, northeast of Glenwood and received his education in the Glenwood schools finishing his education at the State University of Iowa. Following his marriage he established his home on a farm northwest of Emerson where he has since resided. He is survived by his wife, son, Lynn, of Burlington, son, Rollin, of Omaha, son, Merrill, residing on the home place, and a daughter, Mrs. Clydia Bass, who resides near Emerson. He is also survived by two brothers, C.R. Warren of Center township and Wilbur Warren of Greely, Col., who was unable to attend the funeral services owing to a recent illness from which he has not fully recovered. Services were held in the Methodist church in Emerson this Monday afternoon and burial was made in the Emerson cemetery.
