Her family was by her side in the final hours, and she received the Sacraments on her way to her everlasting reward. Maggie was born on August 23, 1929 to Henry Goeken and Kathryn (Maly) Goeken in West Point, Nebraska. She was the youngest child of ten. Her older siblings, all preceding her in death, were: Wenzel, Frances, Andrew, Adele, Caroline, Genevieve, Thomas, Benedict and Jerome. She married Edwin Seeman of West Point on June 18, 1947 at St. Mary’s Church also in West Point. They had thirteen children: John, Kenneth, Margaret, Betty, Thomas, Donald, Martin, Raymond, Glen, Merle, Nancy, James and Bradley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin; her son, John; and her daughters, Betty and Nancy. She is survived by: ten children; thirty-six grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. Maggie received her Catholic faith from her parents and family. The ten children of Henry and Catherine shared much love and joy on the family farm outside of West Point. Her older sisters, Frances and Adele, received and answered the call to religious life. Maggie was also blessed by her older siblings’ marriages and the children they had, her many nieces and nephews who loved “Aunt Maggie”. Ed and Maggie raised their children on farmland outside of West Point. Ed would farm with his older brother, later working at Iowa Beef Processors, and Maggie caring for the children while teaching them to love Our Lord and His Church, as well managing their home, the “domestic church”. Maggie also was employed as a nurse’s aide at St. Francis Hospital in West Point. Later on, the family of Ed and Maggie moved to a house in West Point, living there from 1973 to 1984. Deeply in love with the Faith, they sent their children to Guardian Angels Catholic Elementary and West Point Central Catholic High School. They moved to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1984 after purchasing the Camp-A-Way campground. They ran Camp-A-Way in Lincoln for many years, enjoying the outdoors and having their kids and grandkids and friends spending time helping them enjoy life. Maggie and Ed were devoted parishioners of St. Mary’s Church in West Point, St. Mary’s in Lincoln and later of North American Martyrs. Not much later they began attending daily Mass at the Convent of the Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters, or affectionately known as the “Pink Sisters”, while spending time there in Adoration of our Eucharistic Lord. She devoted her time to activities like working with her friends at Right to Life of Lincoln, and the Foodnet program, as well as joining a group who would pray the Rosary weekly. She lived alone for a time after Ed’s passing, and then joined the community at Gramercy Hill in Lincoln. She spent the last few months in the care of High Plain Alzheimer’s Care Center.
