Description	:	Maggie Criss, 92, Macdoel, died Saturday in Klamath Falls. She was born in Oakland to Frank and Josie Duncan. When she was 12 years old she moved with her family in a covered wagon to Canby, Calif., where her uncle, Charlie Duncan, owned a ranch. SHe completed her schooling in Canby. SHe was married to Author Criss in 1914. They resided on her uncle's ranch for about three years before moving to land owned by her husband in Lookout. The Crisses raised cattle and operated a dairy. She was born in Oakland to Frank and Josie Duncan. When she was 12 years old she moved with her family in a covered wagon to Canby, Calif., where her uncle, Charlie Duncan, owned a ranch. SHe completed her schooling in Canby. SHe was married to Author Criss in 1914. They resided on her uncle's ranch for about three years before moving to land owned by her husband in Lookout. In the early 1930s they moved to the Tulelake are to ranch and raise sheep. In 1937, they moved to Butte Valley. Her husband preceded her in death in 1939. Following World War II, Mrs. Criss and two of her sons, Arnold and Delmer, operated as Maggie Criss & Sons until her retirement in 1970. SHe always was active in the community. Survivors include her sons, Leland Criss, Standish, Calif., Delmer and Arnold Criss, both Macdoel, Donald Criss, Klamath Falls; daughters, Marie Tharp, Macdoel, Dolly Thompson, Santa Rosa, Calif., Bernice Heatherwick, Alturas; brother, Willard Duncan, Klamath Falls; sister, Vera Howell, Tillamook; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charlie and Arthur Duncan, and a sister, Lela Hammond. Herald and News May 19, 1987
