Obituary from "Ottumwa Courier," July 19, 1950: Native Of County Dies At Age Of 91 Mrs. Maggie I. Dimmitt, 91, a lifelong resident of Wapello County, died at her home at 414 West Maple Avenue at 6:05 p.m. Tuesday. She had been in failing health for two years. She was the widow of John Dimmitt, who died in 1945. She was a member of the First Methodist Church and had moved to Ottumwa from a farm in 1917. She was born in Wapello County November 1, 1858, the daughter of Lewis and Eliza West. Surviving are four sons, William W. Dimmitt of Limon Colo., Carl L. Dimmitt of Ottumwa Route 1, Jesse G. Dimmitt of Chicago and Forrest B. Dimmitt of Hedrick, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by a son, Guy, in 1904, and a daughter in infancy. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the community funeral home in Ottumwa in charge of Dr. Howard P. Buxton of the First Methodist Church. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Noble, Earl, Glen, Rex, Norman and Ernest Dimmitt.
