They were the parents of Ella (1857 IL, Miller), Grant V (1868, IL). In 1900 census Catherine was listed as the mother of 2 children. In 1900 census Catherine was listed as the mother of 2 children. Mahlon married 2nd Maggie J Leverton on 06 Oct 1875 in Eldora, Hardin, Iowa. They were the parents of 8 children: Rosa May 1876, George W 1878, Blanche 1880, David 1882, Lola 1885, & Mahlon B 1888, Richard 1891, and Maggie 1894. Mahlon had a sister Rosa A Woodley, who lived with him in 1880. I think Cornelius Woodley was Mahlons brother #80070625. Mahlon was a soldier in the Civil war, enrolling in 1862 and being discharged in 1865. He was sergeant of Company B, Fourth Indiana Cavalry. In 1870 he came west to Iowa and took up a claim in Pilot township, Cherokee county, upon which he resided until his death. Woodley, an old resident of the county and a highly respected citizen, died at his home south of Cherokee on Monday last at 3 o'clock. Mr. Woodley has been in poor health for some time and his death was not unexpected. The funeral takes place today at 2 o'clock. Deceased was 63 years of age and leaves a wife and eight children to mourn. We have been unable to get the data for such an obituary as we would like to write, but it may be said of Mr. Woodley that he was a really good and upright citizen, respected and admired as friend, neighbor or acquaintance, and the sympathy of the entire community is extended to these who mourn.
