Funeral tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. Another Obituary Another Pioneer Gone. Malon Farnsworth was born in the Shenandoah Valley, Va, in the year 1817. Came to this State in childhood. His parents settled in this county. He was married when twenty-five years of age to Miss Lydia Miller, daughter of Jacob and Sarah Miller, of this county, where they lived with their family until separated by death, three daughters preceding their mother to the life beyond. Her decease occurred in April,[1883], since which time he was again united in the marital relation with Mrs. Lydia Barnes, who survied him to join the three surviving children two sons and one daughter in mourning the loss of husband and father. He died January 18, 1888. "By their fruits ye shall know them." Mahlon Farnsworth was a modest, retiring citizen, industrious and frugal, playing well his part as a husband, father and neighbor, and was regarded by all who knew him well as being proverbially honest. It has been well said that an honest man was the noblest work of God. He was noted for his moral, temperate and prudent demeanor in his social and business relations. His record would have been an honor to a Christian profession, which however he did not make until late in life, at which time he professed faith in the power of Christ to save, and a firm determination to honor and serve the Master all his remaining days, which he did, and at his death was a member of the Plymouth Congregational Church, whose pastor is Rev. E. I Jones who was called to officate at his funeral, which occurred at the late residence of the deceased on January 20,1888.-A FRIEND. Additional Information: Mahlon is buried here at the Cedar Hill Cemetery, but no headstone was located. His wife Lydia also is buried here, but without any headstone. Of the four daughters buried here, the eldest Sarah born June 23, 1847 and died June 23, 1875 and married Charles W. Marshall, has a headstone. She died at the age of 28. Mahlon married Lydia Miller October 3, 1841. Mahlon was the son of Daniel Farnsworth, who came to Hanover, Licking County, about 1818.
