Walter Segil McKee born June 28, 1878 and is buried this cemetery. ~Obit~Mahlon McKee died at his home in Newton Township, July 2, after an illness of ten days, aged 71 years. He was a native of Indiana, born in Clark County. He came to Iowa in 1849, and settled in Newton Township five years later. His marriage to Margaret Calvlin was in 1859 and Newton has since been their home. They have eight children living, two boys and one girl still living at home. The other children are J. T. McKee of Portland, Oregon; Miss Lucy, of St. Joseph; Walter of Minnesota; and the others live in the neighborhood of the of the old homestead. Mr. McKee was a member of the Christian Church. The funeral occured at the residence, Sunday afternoon, July 3rd. Mr. John McKee of Portland, Oregon, and Miss Lucy McKee of St. Joseph's, Missouri, are home, called by the death of their father, Mahlon McKee, which occured at his home two miles north of town, July 2.
