McNeely but was unable to give any particulars. The following account appeared in Wednesday's Waxhaw Enterprise. Mrs. Rhetta McNeely, wife of W. R. McNeely, died at her home at College Hill last Thursday morning at five o'clock. She had been in exceedingly poor health since suffering a stroke of paralysis in 1911, and for a week or more prior to her death was very low. Funeral services were held at the home Saturday and burial was in the family burying ground on the plantation right near College Hill school house. Mrs. McNeely was sixty-four years old. She was a daughter of the late John W. Belk and a member of one of this section's most distinguished families. She was a sister of Revs. S. R. and G. W. Belk. A younger brother. Rev. Darling Belk died some years ago. The two brothers and two sisters, Mrs. Alice Broom, now of Raleigh, and Mrs. J. L. Flow of Charlotte survive. She was the mother of ten children, nine sons and one daughter. One of the sons, Consul Ney McNeely was lost when his ship was sunk by a German torpedo while en route to his first consulate in 1915. The other children all survive. They are: Vance McNeely of this township; C. Dowd McNeely of Utah; S. Huxley McNeely of Buffalo; Lieutenant M. Pratt McNeely of Fort Sill, Okla.; Belk McNeely of the home; Parley B. McNeely of Waxhaw; Grady P. McNeely and George Roscoe McNeely with the American Expeditionary Forces; and Ruskin McNeely of the home, and Miss Eulalia McNeely. Mrs. McNeely was a member of the Presbyterian church from early girlhood and during the years of her affliction was always a cheerful sufferer. It was a positive delight to visit in her home.
