Malinda Lena (Wiechmann) Richardson, 96 years of age, of Adams, NE. passed away at the Gold Crest Retirement Center in Adams, NE. Saturday morning, April 17, 2004. She was born on February 6, 1908 near Syracuse, NE. She was a graduate of Cook High School in Cook, NE., attended Peru State College, and then taught school in rural Johnson County for several years. She and Harvey A. Richardson were married on August 13, 1934 at Mitchell, South Dakota. She had lived on a farm southeast of Adams, NE. for 60 years before moving into Gold Crest Retirement Center in Adams, NE. in February of 2004. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Adams, NE. and was an active member of the United Methodist Church Women, having held several offices. She was an avid gardener, and enjoyed flowers, quilting, crocheting, reading, and her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter Marlene Bell and her husband Cleo of Adams, NE.; 2 sons, James Richardson and his wife Diane and Harlan Richardson and his wife Jeannette, all of Adams, NE.; 10 grandchildren; 2 great granddaughters and 2 great great granddaughters; sister Leona Schmidt and her husband Victor of Sterling, NE.; brother in law Gilbert Richardson and his wife Leona of Crab Orchard, NE.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Fredrick and Anna (Delekate) Wiechmann; her husband Harvey A. Richardson (June 27, 1969); 5 sisters and 4 brothers. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church in Adams, NE. with Reverend Martha Voigt officiating. Interment will be in the Highland Cemetery, Adams, NE. The body will lie in state Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Adams, NE. and at the church one hour preceding the service. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. Wednesday at the church. A memorial has been established to the church with Kent and Patty Krause in charge. Messages of condolence may be sent to [email protected] They will be forwarded to the family. The Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Adams is in charge of the services.
