Mame E Burke was born September 9, 1890, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Tiernan near New Hampton, Iowa. She was the oldest of four children. She attended St. Joseph's Grade and High School in New Hampton, Iowa. On June 23, 1914, she married Raymond J. Burke of Riceville. Read More	Mame E Burke died at the Campaign County Nursing Home in Champaign, Illinois at 12:37p.m. Tuesday, February 2 1965. Mame E Burke was born September 9, 1890, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Tiernan near New Hampton, Iowa. She was the oldest of four children. She attended St. Joseph's Grade and High School in New Hampton, Iowa. On June 23, 1914, she married Raymond J. Burke of Riceville. They made their home in Riceville their entire life until the death of Mr. Burke on March 29, 1954. Since that date she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. John J Neils in Champaign, Illinois until she entered the Champaign County Nursing Home a few years ago. She is survived by her four children; Mrs. John J Neils of Champaign, Illinois; Mrs. Ralph Chapin of Greeley, Colorado; Mrs. James Hendricks, Yankton, South Dakota and Edward R Burke of Davenport, Iowa; 2 brothers, William J Tiernan of New Hampton, Iowa and Francis Tiernan of Chicago, Illinois. There are also 21 grand children. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one brother, James. She was active in community affairs while living in Riceville. She served as president of local groups, church organizations, high school P.T.A. Mrs. Burke was State historian for the American Legion Auxiliary of Iowa and President of the Legion Auxiliary in Riceville. Funeral services were held at the Immaculate Conception church on Riceville on Friday, February 5 with the Reverend J.W. Bohr officiating; Burial was in the family plot in ?Calvary Cemetery with Chisholm Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers included Loyd Richmond, Rex J. Willis. Bill Deegan, Gerald Crooks, John Neils and Tim Burke. J.B. Hendricks was usher.
