She was born in Georgetown County on June 20, 1904, a daughter of the late James Avant and Margaret Carter Avant. She grew up in the Pleasant Hill community of Georgetown County and moved to Andrews as a young woman. Mrs. Bauer lived in Andrews most of her life. She grew up in the Pleasant Hill community of Georgetown County and moved to Andrews as a young woman. Mrs. Bauer lived in Andrews most of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Andrews and widow of Earl Bauer. Survivors include a son-in-law, Russell Cox of Goose Creek; two grandsons, Merrill Cox of Goose Creek and David Cox of Mexico City; two granddaughters, Susan Bard of State College, Pa., and Cindy Lynch of Hanahan; nine great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the Andrews chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church of Andrews. Burial will follow in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
