Description	:	Mamie "Mae" Luke, 100, Minot and formerly of Berthold, ND, died Thursday, August 23, 2012 in her home. Mae was born on April 28, 1912 in Bird Island, MN, a daughter of Frank and Teresa (Huebsch) Bruels. At the age of 2, the family moved to a farm near Berthold, ND, where she was raised and educated. She graduated from Berthold High School in 1930 and then attended Minot State Teachers College, obtaining her teaching certificate. Read More	Mamie "Mae" Luke, 100, Minot and formerly of Berthold, ND, died Thursday, August 23, 2012 in her home. Mae was born on April 28, 1912 in Bird Island, MN, a daughter of Frank and Teresa (Huebsch) Bruels. At the age of 2, the family moved to a farm near Berthold, ND, where she was raised and educated. She graduated from Berthold High School in 1930 and then attended Minot State Teachers College, obtaining her teaching certificate. She then taught at rural schools near Des Lacs, Burlington, Berthold and Crosby, ND. On November 25, 1941, she married Kenneth Luke in Berthold, ND. The couple farmed and raised their children on the farm near Berthold. Kenneth died on May 10, 1997 and Mae moved into Berthold. Mae moved to Minot in 2008 and resided at The Wellington. Mae was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Berthold. She enjoyed playing cards and Bingo, embroidering and dancing. She had fond memories of dancing at the Moose Lodge on Saturday nights and her Senior Citizen bus trips throughout the country. Mae was well known as an excellent gardener and cook. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her parents; her grandson Mark Stemen; her sisters, Dorothy Frank, Marcella Bruels, Helen Hennessy and Marion Salser; her brothers, Francis, Donald, Raymond and Vernon Bruels; and her son in law, Myron Stemen. Memorials are preferred to Trinity Hospice or to an organization of the donor's choice. Funeral: Monday, August 27, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Berthold, ND.
