Manford Snyder, 93, passed away on March 22, 2013, in Loveland, Colorado. Manford was born September 14, 1919, to Minnie and Harvey Snyder at the family homestead in DeNova, Colorado. He was the fifth child of a family of eight children. Manford served in the Army from September, 1940 through October, 1945. His Asiatic Pacific Service earned him many recognitions: Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Metal, Distinguished Unit Citation (including one Oak Leaf Cluster), Philippine Liberation Ribbon (including one bronze star), and a American Defense Service Medal. After World War II ended, Manford met Maxine and they were married October 20, 1946. The couple originally made their home south of Otis but later moved north of Otis. Manford chose to be a farmer all of his life and he was indeed a steward of the land, always understanding and responding to what was needed to produce a crop and livelihood for his family while preserving the land. Manford was active in farm activities until his death. Manford loved animals and was a guardian of his pets as well as other wild life that may have been lucky enough to wonder onto his farm. While he was successful in so many areas in life, his real love and pride was his family. Manford was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Otis where he was an active member until his death. He appreciated the fellowship and support of the congregation. Manford was a part of the greatest generation that ever lived. The way he lived his life was indeed a statement – hard work, helping his neighbors, befriending those in need. He contributed so much to the ethics of his generation. Now it remains for us, those who have inherited this legacy, to remain true to those ideals and high standards. Just as Manford did, he would want each of us to rededicate ourselves to loving one another and spending time with our families. Manford was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, his beloved granddaughter, Linnea Dick; and beloved great grandson, Edward Havens. Left to mourn his passing are his wife of 66 years, Maxine, his five children: Opal (Don) Dick; Irene Coplan; Rose (Don) Carroll; Terry (Janet) Snyder; Earl (Kelly) Snyder his 13 grandchildren: Andrea (Eric) Gliva; Shawn( Steffine) Havens, LaDawn Havens, Jennifer Vetter; Jerod (Amy) Carroll, Melissa Carroll; Ryan Snyder, Laura Snyder, Lindsey Snyder; Bryce (Sadaf) Snyder, Ashley (Andrew) Gannon, Kyle Snyder, Tanner Hudnall and 14 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephew, and countless friends. Manford will be forever missed and never forgotten. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Otis, Colorado. Services were conducted at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Otis, Colorado at 10:00 a.m. on March 28, 2013. Interment followed at the Otis Cemetery. Arrangements provided by Baucke Funeral Home of Yuma.
