He had been a Waverly resident since 1921 and was a retired real estate agent and manager of several farms in the area. A native of Mt. Pleasant, Ia., he lived several years at Benedict where he was a harness maker and proprietor of a harness shop. He was a member of the Benedict Lutheran Church. Carlson, 82, died Wednesday, November 13, at his home in Waverly after a number of months illness. He was born in Olds, Iowa on December 4, 1879, came to Nebraska with his parents when he was six months old. He and his bride came to Benedict in 1906 where he was a harness maker and proprietor of a harness shop. He came to Waverly in 1921 where he dealt in real estate, car salesman, member of the Village Board, former mayor and was caretaker of the cemetery for many years, besides managing farms of his own. He was a member of the Benedict Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Molli; brother Walter of Bradshaw; sister Mrs. Esther Peterson of York and many nephews and nieces. Services were held Saturday, November 16, at the Waverly Methodist Church. The recently-completed church edifice stands on land donated by the Carlsons. The Revs. Dwight Ganzel, Rolla C. Swanson, a nephew, and A. L. Wright officiated at the service. Lloyd Bevans sang accompanied by Mrs. John Loder. Pallbearers were nephews, Wendell, George and Joe Carlson, Wilson Lambert, Victor Junge, LaVerne Brooks and Cecil Romsdale. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Waverly.
