Description	:	Marcell Spain Baker, age 74, formerly of Eden, NC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at her home in Wilmington, NC after months of declining health. A funeral service will be held at Fair Funeral Home Chapel at 2 PM, Saturday, February 16. The service will be conducted by Rev. Andy Pettigrew and Elder Harry Stanley. Burial will be in Danview Cemetery. Mrs. Baker was born in Draper, NC to the late Thad and Pearl Spain. She graduated in 1951 from Draper High School and was class historian. Burial will be in Danview Cemetery. Mrs. Baker was born in Draper, NC to the late Thad and Pearl Spain. She graduated in 1951 from Draper High School and was class historian. She was of the Primitive Baptist faith and was a faithful member of Cascade Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Baker retired from Fieldcrest Mills after 26 years of service where she worked at the Karastan Service Center. She married Lynn E. Baker, Sr., on May 29, 1971. They shared ten children in their 35 years of marriage. She is survived by her children; Lynn Stephens of Poquoson, VA, Karen Pettigrew and husband, Andy of Wilmington, Susan VanZandt of Supply, Vern Stephens of Supply, Fran Baker and partner, Cindy Lawrence of Sarasota, FL, Ed Baker and wife, Janice of Gulfport, MS, Donna Baker of Wimauma, FL, James Baker and wife, Maria of Westville, FL, Carson Baker of Brooklyn, NY, and Joe Baker and wife, Dusty of Plant City, FL; sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris and Hugh Walker and Yvonne and Orville Light; brother and sister-in-law, J. W. and Doris Spain; 16 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Baker is also survived by her beloved chihuahua, Blue, who was her constant companion. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn E. Baker, Sr.; sisters, Kathaleen S. Tate, Ruby S. Miller, and Delores Spain; brother, Walter N. Spain; grandson, Clifford Wheeler; and special niece, Donna Beth Muscarello.
