Marcella was born June 14, 1916 in Manly, Ia., the daughter of Arthur and Ethel (Cooper) Knowles. She graduated from Manly High School, and went to work for the Manly school system as a school cook. In 1962, Marcella married James W. Blair in Monterey, Old Mexico. After their marriage they moved to Des Moines, IA., and she worked in the Des Moines School system as a cook. She devoted many years to both the Manly and Des Moines school systems. After both Marcella and James retired, they moved back to Manly, IA, where they enjoyed playing BINGO, playing 500, and dancing. Throughout the years they would travel around the U.S. where they would visit family, and friends. Marcella was also very fond of sewing. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Cecil (Peggy) Calkins, Granger, IA; Step-son, Leland (Kay) Blair, Falls Church, VA.: Grandchildren, Mark Calkins, Des Moines, IA; LeeAnne (Sam) Fox, Collierville, TN.; Great-Grandchildren, Rachel Calkins, Sara Calkins, Carsyn Calkins, Ryan Ford, Dustin Ford, and Kelsey Ford. She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Ethel Knowles; Sister, Luella Hanson; and Brother-In-Law Martin Hanson. Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 Spring Street, Manly, Iowa
