Description	:	SOUTH SIOUX CITY - Marcella J. Vandenberg, 83, of South Sioux City died Monday, April 23, 2001, at a South Sioux City nursing home. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael Catholic Church, with the Rev. David Liewer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Hubbard, Neb. Visitation will be 2 to 8:30 p.m. today, with a parish rosary at 7:30 p.m., at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Mrs. Vandenberg was born Jan. 4, 1918, in Monominee, Neb., the daughter of Joseph and Ida (Kemper) Hoesing. She married Phillip Vandenberg on Feb. 15, 1939, in South Sioux City. The couple farmed in the Hubbard area until retiring and moving to Dakota City. They moved to South Sioux City in 1968. Her husband died Dec. 16, 1970, in Sioux City. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and Altar Society. Survivors include a son and his wife, Ray and Annette of Sioux City; three daughters, Annette Hoefling of Sioux City, Jean and her husband, Tom Vipond of Dakota City, and Susan Tott of Sioux City; 14 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a son, Richard, eight brothers and three sisters. Pallbearers will be Richard, Chris and Michelle Vandenberg, Tim Nelson, Lorren Hoefling and Clayton Lillie.
