NOTE: The original Polish spelling is Siemek but many family members used the spelling Shemek. Children not found: Possibly two other children, names unknown The obituary states Martin was buried at Fullerton. Columbus (Nebraska) Telegram April 1924 Martin Siemek passed away at Fullerton Saturday afternoon after a short illness, and was buried Monday at Fullerton. Mr. Siemek formerly lived 9 miles southeast of Duncan and was well know to the Duncan people and community. About six years ago he moved onto a farm at Cedar Rapids, and from there to Fullerton, where he lived in town. He had lived there about a month at the time of his death. He was 62 years old. Besides his wife he leaves four daughters, Mrs. Chas. Micek, Mrs. Pete Mimick, Mrs. Joe Zulkoski and Victoria Siemek and eight sons, Henry, Frank, Louis, Albin, James, Alex, Joe and Eddie. Funeral services were held Monday morning at Fullerton and the body laid to rest in the Fullerton cemetery. The Fathers of Cedar Rapids, Duncan and Fullerton conducted the services. . . My great-uncle Marcin Siemek, was buried in St Peter Catholic cemetery, but after his wife passed, the family had his remains moved to St Stanislaus Cemetery, in Duncan to be next to his wife. This did not work as planned, as someone else was buried next to her so Martin is buried one grave over.
