Growing up in Plainview, her mom sent her for piano lessons. She hated practicing and finally talked her mom into quitting. However, that did not end her piano playing. Read More	Mardelle Dorothy (Boies) Eix, 89 May 23, 1928 ~ September 1, 2017 Mardelle was born in Plainview, Nebraska May 23, 1928, to Dee and Violet Boies. Growing up in Plainview, her mom sent her for piano lessons. She hated practicing and finally talked her mom into quitting. However, that did not end her piano playing. Mardelle could play by ear and taught herself to chord so she could play any music she heard. Even after a stroke, she entertained the other patients at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont, Nebraska with her music. She married Donald Raymond Eix in South Sioux City, Nebraska on April 6, 1945. Mardelle and Don were blessed with 8 children. When her children were small, she was a Cub Scout leader for years. She was an avid card player, always ready for a game of Pinochle. On Sundays, the family would meet at her parents’ home for dinner, then the kids headed to the basement for a game of Clue while the adults played Pinochle for the afternoon. After those games ended with the death of her parents, she was always eager for a game with anyone she could talk into playing, whether it was pinochle, Pitch, Skipbo or Kings in the Corner. If she couldn’t find anyone to play, she would play Solitaire for hours. After Don died, she and her daughter, Donnelle, shared a home until Mardelle’s death. She will be missed by her family and many friends she shared great times with. Mardelle Dorothy Eix, 89, of Fremont, Nebraska passed away September 1, 2017 surrounded by her family. Left with memories are children: Iris (Julius) Vitamvas, Fremont; Jo (Gary) Mathiesen, Herman, NE; Glenn Runninghawk, Fremont; DeeAnna (Richard) Gotschall, Salina, KS; David (Susan) Eix, Blair, NE; and Donnelle (Mustafa) Arikan, Fremont; brother, Jerry Boies, Arlington, NE; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Boies, Chattanooga, TN, and Rose Boies, Hooper, NE. She was blessed with 26 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two children, Donald Jr. and Elizabeth; and brothers, Vernon Boies of Chattanooga, TN, and Milton Boies and Glenn Boies of Fremont. Services were held Wednesday, September 6 at Grace United Methodist Church in Kennard, NE.
