Description	:	Mrs. Andrew Olson, pioneer of Brookings county and a resident of this city for the past eighteen years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C.A. Anderson, last Thursday evening, old age being the cause of her death. Mrs. Olson had been growing weak for several months, and failed rapidly from the time she was taken to her bed about three weeks before her death. Funeral services were held from the First Lutheran church Sunday afternoon, Rev. B.A. Benson conducting the service. Mary (Ask) Thompson was born in Ringerike, near Honefoss, Norway, April 26, 1845. In 1860 she, with her parents,Thomas and Else Ask emigrated to America, and settled near Highland Prairie, Minn. She was united in marriage to Andrew Olson in 1868. Shortly after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Olson moved to Coral City, Wis., where Mr. Olson was engaged in the mercantile business until 1873 when they moved back to Highland Prairie. In 1880 they came with the first pioneers to Brookings County, taking a homestead two and one-half miles east of Bruce where the family resided until moving to Brookings in 1905. The deceased was a life-long member of the Lutheran church, an earnest Christian, and a woman respected and loved by everyone. Mrs. Olson was the mother of six children, five of whom survive, one son, Edward, passing away in infancy. Mr. Olson died July 22nd, 1922. The surviving relatives are four daughters, Mrs. F.C. Norman of Minneapolis, Miss Eva Olson of St. Paul, Mrs. Dora Anderson and Miss Clara Olson of Brookings; one son, Orrin O. Olson of Brookings; and one brother, Ole Thompson of Bruce. All of the children were present at the funeral. She will be buried in the Greenwood Cemetery.
