Margaret Ruhland was born January 27, 1880, at Hazel Green, Wis. She came to the Le Mars vicinity at the age of 6 with her parents. She was married to Thomas Britt, February 22, 1905 at St. Joseph’s Church in Lincoln township. They farmed in Stanton township until his death. Mrs. Britt remained on the farm with her sons until 1949 when she moved to Le Mars. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Allison of Le Mars; three sons, Minert, Aloysius and Vernon, all of Le Mars; four sisters, Mrs. Frank Kirchberg of Rush City, Minn, Mrs. Lou Sitzman and Mrs. Frank Sitzman, both of Kingsley, and Mrs. Jake Neyens of Hinton, Ia.; a brother, John Ruhland of Hinton, and 12 grandchildren. Funeral services were at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph church, Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. D. Fisch officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph cemetery in Lincoln township. The body was taken to the family home Sunday afternoon where it remained until the time of the service. Mrs. Britt was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, in 1933; 2 sisters, Mrs. Rosalie Kirchberg and Mrs. Margaret Kirchberg and three brothers, Michael, Norbert and Frank Ruhland. The deceased was a member of the Christian Mother’s Society and St. Joseph’s Altar society. Wiltgen-Luedtke funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
