Sewell on 25 Sep 1856 in Council Grove, Morris County, KS. ********************************************** The Council Grove Republican, 26 Feb 1915, Fri Margaret Chapman Baker was born in Wapelle (sic) county, Iowa, on October 25th, 1839, and died February 20th, 1915 at her home in Council Grove, aged 75 years, 3 months and 20 days. She was married to Eli Sewell on September 25th, 1856 in the Old Mission in Council Grove, Kansas. To this union were born ten children of whom only three are living, Clyde, of Kansas City, Robert and James of Council Grove all of whom were at her bedside when she died. She was only sick four days, pneumonia being the cause of her death. The old saying "That none knew her but to love her," could well be applied to her. She was a friend in trouble and a help in sickness. She was converted with the M. E. Church South, when about 30 years old and remained a consistent member until her death. The funeral was preached by Rev. J. O. Foresman, assisted by Rev. Blaine at 2:30, Sunday afternoon at the M. E. South church.
