Vandevender, passed away at her home at Forks of Water, Wednesday morning, April 22 at 6:30 o'clock, following a few days of illness. If she had lived until August she would have been 92 years old. She was a daughter of the late George and Sarah A. Harper Colaw, and was born at the ancestral Colaw home in Highland, August 1844. Read More	Highland Recorder April 24, 1936 DEATH OF MRS MARGARET VANDEVENDER Mrs. Margaret Colaw Vandevender, wife of the late Jacob E. Vandevender, passed away at her home at Forks of Water, Wednesday morning, April 22 at 6:30 o'clock, following a few days of illness. If she had lived until August she would have been 92 years old. She was a daughter of the late George and Sarah A. Harper Colaw, and was born at the ancestral Colaw home in Highland, August 1844. Both on the parental and maternal side she was directly descended from the first settlers of Highland County and from families of outstanding prominence Since girlhood she was a member of the Methodist church, (North) and in her daily life practiced the precepts of her faith. Considerate of others, charitable to those in need, ever sympathetic patient and kind, ever the finest type of Christian womanhood. She was married to Jacob E. Vandevander in the year 1869. She is survived by three daughters; Mrs. Etta Rexrode, Monterey; Miss Maggie Vandevender, home; Mrs. Sullie Beverage, this county; three sons Charlie, George and Jerry of the county, nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Francis Simmons, Mrs. Isaac Simmons, Crabbottom; Mrs. Mary C. Ryder, Richwood, West Virginia. Funeral services for the deceased took place at 2 o'clock Thursday after noon at Forks of Water church, her pastor the Rev, Loring Howell conducting the services.
