"The Otis Indepenedent", Otis, Colorado, Thursday, Dec. 18, 1952: Mrs. Elmer Franklin Died Monday, Week Following Husband Funeral Services to be held Thursday afternoon at Otis Presbyterian Church with Interment in Otis Cemetery- Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Otis Presbyterian church for Mrs. Margaret Delephine Franklin, who passed away Monday afternoon at 5:00 o'clock at the hospital in Pueblo. Mrs. Franklin was called to her death lacking 5 hours of being exactly one week after the death of her husband, Mr. Elmer Franklin, whose funeral was held last Thursday afternoon., Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. W. L. Schmalhorst, pastor of the church, assisted by Rev. Ward Bjerke, pastor of the Yum,a Presbyterian church. Mrs. Franklin was born at Clear Lake, Iowa, on February 27, 1875, and passed away December 15, 1952, at Pueblo, Colorado, at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 23 days. Mrs. Franklin had been in very poor health for a number of years, and has been in and out of the hospital several times in the past two years. She had been much worse during the past year, and had spent many months in the hospital, until death came to relieve her suffering. Mrs. Franklin is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Mabel Chaplin of Denver, and by a brother, Augustus Martin, who lives in Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, and also by her parents, and two sisters. She moved to Colorado on a homestead south of Akron in 1906. In the late 20's she with her husband, Elmer moved to Otis, which has been their home since that time. Funeral services will be charge of the Morris Mortuary, of Yuma, with interment in the Otis cemetery beside her husband who was laid to rest a week ago.
