Dorothy was born June 1, 1919, to James W. and Margaret Ann (Jobursch) Bloodsworth in Hiteman. Dorothy graduated from Eddyville High School, Class of 1937. On Sept. 22, 1937, in Oskaloosa, Dorothy and Leonard Vance Belzer were united in marriage. They were blessed with one son Leonard J., and 28 years of marriage. Dorothy was born June 1, 1919, to James W. and Margaret Ann (Jobursch) Bloodsworth in Hiteman. Dorothy graduated from Eddyville High School, Class of 1937. On Sept. 22, 1937, in Oskaloosa, Dorothy and Leonard Vance Belzer were united in marriage. They were blessed with one son Leonard J., and 28 years of marriage. Leonard Vance Belzer died on May 27, 1966. Dorothy was a homemaker and a farmer. Dorothy farmed for 60 years. She a member of the Golden T Travel Club, Club 60 and the Iowa Central Club. Dorothy is survived by her son, Leonard J. (Jean) Belzer of Pleasant Hill; three grandsons, Kenneth Belzer of Des Moines, Brian Belzer of Altoona and Robert (Laura) Belzer of Carlisle; and two great-grandchildren, Lucas and Nathan Belzer. Dorothy is also survived by her two brothers, Albert Bloodsworth of Oskaloosa and Russel Bloodsworth of Aurora, Colorado; and two sisters, Mary Simmers of Eddyville and Jane Levy of California. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Margaret Bloodsworth; her husband, Leonard Vance Belzer; five brothers; and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel; Rev. Lois Williams officiating. Burial will follow services at Highland Cemetery of Eddyville. Visitation for Dorothy will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel. Dorothy’s family will be present from 3-5 p.m. Monday. An open memorial has been established and will be decided by the family at a later date. The Eddyville Funeral Chapel is assisting Dorothy’s family with services.
