Mrs. Gourlay is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Mable King of Superior; three sons, Ralph of Wymore, Carl of Los Angeles, and Willis of Hollywood; one sister and two brothers. Mr. Gourlay died several years ago. Interment was in Nelson cemetery (sic) Monday afternoon. The Gourlays lived in Nelson for many years and a host of friends extend sympathy to the bereaved children. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, March 6, 1930 ============ Margaret E. Gourlay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Carlon, was born near Mercer in Mercer county (sic), Pennsylvania, March 12, 1863. She died at her home in Superior, Nebraska, February 28th, at 6:30 in the evening, aged 66 years, 11 months and 16 days. When she was one year old her parents moved to Jones county (sic), Iowa, where they resided for seven years. In the fall of 1871 they moved to Nuckolls county (sic), Nebraska, near Elkton. That winter they moved to Beatrice to spend the winter. On April 4th, 1872, they moved to the old homestead of Mr. Carlon, two miles east and six miles north of Nelson. In 1882 she was married to James H. Gourlay and moved to Nelson where they made their home for many years. To this union were born five children: Ralph H., Mabele M., (now Mrs. Roy King), A. Carl, E. Loraine, who died in infancy, and Willis A. Mrs. Gourlay professed faith in Christ early in life and lived a very consistent Christian life. She has been a faithful member of the First Presbyterian church of this city since moving here some twenty years ago. She was a member of the Eastern Star for many years and was a past Worthy Matron of her lodge in Nelson. Mrs. Gourlay was a loving mother, a kind neighbor and a faithful Christian, and all who knew her loved her. She leaves her four living children and two brothers: Lee J. Carlon, Superior, and M.J. Carlon of Welfleet (sic), and one sister Mrs. H.V. Marshall of Martin, S.D., with a large number of friends to mourn her going. Funeral services were held from the Presbyterian church (sic) Monday, March 3rd, at 2:30 in the afternoon.
