Henry County Sheriff Russ Van Tuyle identified the girl as Margaret Eutsler, who had been visiting her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lamb of Salem. A swimming accident also claimed the life of 20 year old Paul Vogl of Manning. Lake View Police said Vogl had been swimming Blackhawk Lake Sunday when he drowned. The victims were Roger Joe Stites, 14, of Burlington, Margaret Eutsler, 14, who lives in Texas, and Paul Vogl, 20, of Manning. Stites had been on an overnight camping and fishing trip on the Mississippi River with two companions, Don Lite, and Marvin Passow, both 14 of Burlington. The two boys told authorities they went fishing Sunday morning while Stites went for a swim. They summoned help when he did not return. Miss Eutsler was in a swimming party at a pond on the farm of Donald Brown, near Salem in Henry County. Brown told authorities he left Miss Eutsler with his own daughters while he went to change into his swimming suit. He said he warned the girls not to enter the water until he returned. However Miss Eutsler did go into the pond. Miss Eutsler once made her home in Salem with her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lamb. She was in Iowa to visit them. Vogl drowned while swimming at Crescent Beach on Blackhawk Lake at Lake View, in Sac County. The body was recovered about 15 minutes after Vogl was reported missing. Efforts to revive him failed.
