A native of Union, she was a daughter of the late William Jesse Estes Sr. and Virginia Morris Estes. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Union. She was a graduate of Union High School, class of 1935, and attended the Gallager School of Nursing in Washington, D.C. She was retired office nurse for Drs. Harold Hope, Boyd Hames and David Keith. Estes of 106 Catherine St. died Nov. 4, 1997, in Oakmont Nursing Home after an extended illness. A native of Union, she was a daughter of the late William Jesse Estes Sr. and Virginia Morris Estes. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Union. She was a graduate of Union High School, class of 1935, and attended the Gallager School of Nursing in Washington, D.C. She was retired office nurse for Drs. Harold Hope, Boyd Hames and David Keith. Survivors include two sisters, Elizabeth C. Estes of the home and Ruth E. Douglas of Atlanta; a brother, W.J. Estes of Columbia; and a brother-in-law, Clyde Edwards of the home. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Presbyterian Cemetery by the Revs. Clayton Howerton and Jim Hudson. The family will receive friends at the home. Memorials may be made to Union First Baptist Church, 405 E. Main St., Union, 29379. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
