Description	:	Margaret Gasena Joseph (As printed in the Polk Progress 1-20-1949) Mrs. Margaret Gasena Joseph (nee Folkerts), daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs Edo Folkerts, was born near Madison, Wisconsin, July 23, 1871 and departed this life at the Aurora hospital January 8, 1949 at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 16 days. She was baptized in the Christian faith on August 20, 1871 by the Rev. H. Vogel. She received her instruction in the Christian doctrine at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Polk and was confirmed March 25, 1888, by the Rev. J.G. Lang. On October 8, 1891... She was baptized in the Christian faith on August 20, 1871 by the Rev. H. Vogel. She received her instruction in the Christian doctrine at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Polk and was confirmed March 25, 1888, by the Rev. J.G. Lang. On October 8, 1891 she was united in marriage to Ludwig Joseph by the Rev. J.G. Lang and to this union, eight children were born After their marriage the lived northwest of Polk for four years, moving to Rushville, Nebraska in October, 1895. They returned northwest of Polk for one year. In 1899 they moved to a farm southeast of Hordville where she made her home for the past fifty years. She leaves to mourn her departure: her husband; three sons and five daughters—Ernest Joseph of Hordville, Albert of Hampton, Ella Schweikert of Hordville, Ida Sagehorn of Seward, Walter Joseph and Viola Wergin, both of Columbus, Anna Meyer and Matilda Joseph, both of Hordville; four sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law; 32 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Anna Hummel and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Fred Kanter, both of Central City; two half-brothers: Jake Hessing of Boise, Idaho and Wm. Hessing of Madison, Wis.; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 11 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Polk. Services were conducted by Rev. C.W. Long. Interment was made at the Lutheran cemetery.
