Chalmers on the 2 October 1894. Henry, the groom was 26 years, white and born in Germany and his residence in 1894 was Knox County, Nebraska. His father was Conrad Ranch and his mother was Maggie Steinbrenner. Maggie Gengler, the bride was 20 years and white and born in Germany. Her residence in 1894 was Knox County, Nebraska. Her father was Nicholas Gengler and her mother was Eliza Kariger. The witnesses at their marriage were Herko Koster and John Gengler, brother of Maggie (a nick name for Margaret). The birth place for Margaret (Maggie) on the marriage record should be Luxembourg not Germany. The newspaper obituary has several errors however it is transcribed as follows: Chipman pioneer dies at 95 A homesteader in the Chipman area, Mrs. Margaret Ranch, 95, has died. Mrs. Ranch came to Canada in 1894, moved to the United States where she married Henry Conrad Ranch, and then resided in Golden, B. C. She lived in the Chipman area with her husband from 1905 to 1936, when she moved to Edmonton. She is survived by seven daughters, two sons, 63 grandchildren, 146 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were to be held today at Foster and McGarvey Funeral Home." First Margaret after 1885, immigrated to Nebraska with her parents and siblings from Useldange, Luxembourg. Henry Rensch (Ranch) immigrated with his parents in 1878 from Nussloch, Baden, Germany and initially settled in Iowa however in 1894 they were residing in Nebraska. After Henry Ranch and Maggie Gengler were married 2 October 1894, they immigrated first to Alberta which was not a province and it was part of the Northwest Territories (NWT). On the 1901 Census, Henry and Margaret had four children: Margaret - 5years; Conrad Henry - 4 years; Catrina - 2 years and William B. (Albert) - 1 year and they were residing in Golden, British Columbia. The year of immigration to Canada was stated as 1895. All the children except William B. (Albert) were born in Alberta (NWT). William B. (Albert) was born in British Columbia. In 1916, Henry and Margaret were residing on a farm in Chipman, Alberta, Canada. The year of immigration on the 1916 Census was stated as 1896. The children were as follows: Maggie - 21 years; Henry - 19 years; Kate - 17 years; Alberta - 15 years; Effie - 13 years; Sofie - 11 years; Beatrice - 9 years; Lizzie - 7 years; Violet - 5 years; William - 2 years and Nola - 1 year. Another child was born after 1916 - Clifford. On the 8 August 1917, Maggie lost her husband Henry Ranch in a farming accident at Chipman, Alberta, Canada at the age of 52 years. At this time, Maggie's eldest son Conrad Henry was serving Overseas in the Army. He returned home with injuries not realizing his father had died. At the time of Margaret's death October 1968, she had seven daughters, Maggie was deceased and two sons, Conrad Henry was deceased.
