Cammock, a resident of Hawarden and vicinity for the past 40 years, passed away just before 12 o'clock Wednesday noon at the De Bey hospital in Orange City following an abdominal operation to which she submitted Monday morning. Mrs. Cammock had been in failing health for some time and on March 6 entered the De Bey hospital for a medical examination and treatment. She was given two blood transfusions in hopes that she would be able to overcome the ordeal but to no avail. Mrs. Cammock had been in failing health for some time and on March 6 entered the De Bey hospital for a medical examination and treatment. It was discovered when the operation was performed that she was suffering from a malignant growth. Her remains were brought to Hawarden Wednesday afternoon and funeral services will be held at the Associated church at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon with Rev. T. H. Harding in charge. Interment will be made in Grace Hill cemetery. Margaret Jamison was born in Down county, Ireland, January 5, 1871, and so was past 70 years of age at the time of her death. She grew to young womanhood in Ireland and was united in marriage with David Cammock February 3, 1892. Deciding to make their home in a new country, Mr. Cammock came to America in 1899 and located at Pittsburgh, Pa. The following year he sent for his wife and their three small children and they joined him in this country. Mr. Cammock remained in Pennsylvania but a short time before he came to Iowa, being employed on the George Ward ranch near LeMars. In 1891[?], she came to the Hawarden vicinity and made her home here continuously since that time. For the past 32 years she lived in the same house in the northeast part of Hawarden. She united with the Presbyterian church in Hawarden many years ago. She was the mother of seven children, three of whom preceded her in death. Her eldest son passed away in Ireland when 6 years of age, one daughter Margaret died of diphtheria when 15 years of age and another daughter, Mrs. Sarah Sundvold, passed away in 1935. Besides her husband she is survived by the following children: Mrs. Harry C. Brown of Delhi, Minn.; Fred of St. Paul; Thomas of Hawarden and Henry of Orange City. She also leaves two brothers, John and Sam Jamison, who reside in Ireland. There are four grandchildren. Mrs. Cammock was a woman of strong physique and she worked hard to rear her family. She seemed to have more than her share of sorrow in life but she faced her troubles bravely. Her husband lost his eyesight 37 years ago and it became her lot to care for the family and serve as a guide for him. Her passing will be a severe blow to Mr. Cammock, who has lost his faithful companion of more than 49 years, and sincere sympathy is extended to him and his children in their hour of sorrow.
