Ernest Nowels, former owner and publisher of the Gazette Telegraph. Memorial services were conducted Monday at St. Anne's Episcopal Church, Crystal River. Richard F. Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa Springs, Fla., was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Bruns [sic] was born June 11, 1912, in Colorado Springs to T. Ernest and Birdie May (Wright) Nowels. She had lived in Homosassa since 1978 and was a former resident of Moline, Ill. Mrs. Burns graduated form Ward-Belmont School, Nashville, Tenn., and attended the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She also was a member of the Sugarmill Wood Chorale and St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Crystal River and a volunteer with the American Red Cross and a hospital. Mrs. Burns is survived by her husband, Wilson P.; a son, Wilson P. Jr. of Springfield, Mo.; two daughters, Olivia B. Idy of New Hartford, N.Y., and Deborah W. Burns of Easthampton, Md.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Pikes Peak United Way, 1600 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs 80907; or the charity of the giver's choice.
