Mrs. Gordon was born June 6, 1867, at Inverness, Scotland a daughter of the late Angus and Margaret MacLean. She came to Kansas in 1880 and the family settled on a farm six miles southeast of Admire. She married Charles n. Gordon February 11, 1892, and he preceded in death December 2, 1932. She is survived by four children, Clarence A. Gordon, Baldwin; Mrs. Florance Wamser, Rt. 2, Emporia; Stanley R. Gordon, Americus, and Mrs. Violet Sexton, Madison. A son, Charles MacLean Gordon, died in infancy. Preceding her in death also were five brothers and two sisters, Alexander, Evan, John, Robert, Angus, Elizabeth and Ann MacLean. Ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren survive. Mrs. Gordon long had been a member of the Americus Methodist church and she was a member of the Badger Creek club, and honorary member of the Research club in Americus. Since the death of her husband, she had lived with her daughters, Mrs. Sexton and Mrs. Homer Wamser. ********************************************************** Emporia Gazette, Monday, December 28, 1953; p. 2, c. 6 The Gordon Services Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret MacLean Gordon, who died December 24, were held in the Grace Methodist church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. the Rev. E.F. Buck and the Rev. F.J. Reynolds conducted the services. Mrs. Harold Engle sang, accompanied by Mrs. Morris Greenwood. Pallbearers were Charles Gordon, Robert D. Gordon, LuRae Gordon, Eugene Wamser, Jerry Sexton, and Lloyd Carnine. Burial was in Phillips cemetery.
