Margaret Halligan Jarrard was born November 10, 1881 at Lone Tree, the daughter of Patrick and Mary Morgan Halligan. Margaret Halligan Jarrard was born November 10, 1881 at Lone Tree, the daughter of Patrick and Mary Morgan Halligan. On November 29, 1911 she was united in marriage to Chester Jarrard at St. Joseph’s church in Hills. The couple lived on a farm until 1945 when Mr. Jarrard retired from farming and moved to Iowa City. Mr. Jarrard preceded her in death on August 10, 1948. Mrs. Jarrard was a member of St. Mary’s church at Iowa City and the Altar and Rosary Society. She is survived by one son, Lawrence of Iowa City and Helen at home; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Schomberg of Iowa City and Mrs. Rose McLaughlin at Davenport. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by two brothers. The rosary was recited at McGovern’s Funeral Home at Iowa City Wednesday evening at 8:00 p.m. Funeral services were held at the St. Mary's church in Lone Tree this morning at 9:30 a.m. Burial was in the Lone Tree cemetery. Pallbearers for the service were Dennis Carey, John O’Connor, James Ronan, William Shebanek, Clarence Adrian and Raymond Griner of Iowa City. Rev. Clifford Egert officiated at the service.
