Music was provided by Mrs. Phyllis Brown, organist, and Sue Petsel, soloist. Thomas Joseph Halligan was born March 19, 1883 near Lone Tree, Iowa, the son of Patrick and Mary Morgan Halligan. At the time of death he was 72 years, 4 months and 18 days of age. In 1904 at Iowa City he married to Goldie Hardy, who died January 20, 1948. They made their home on a farm near Lone Tree for many years. Surviving relatives include two daughters, Bernadine and Leota of Lone Tree; two sons, Carroll of Muscatine and Ivan of Iowa City; two grandsons, Eddie and John Halligan of Muscatine; one brother, Larry Halligan of Davenport; and three sisters, Rose McLaughlin of Davenport, Margaret Jarrard and Mary Schomberg both of Iowa City. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sons, Roy and Vernon. Interment was held in the Lone Tree cemetery with Sorden and Adams in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers at the services were William Shebanek, Kenneth Meyer, William Kirkpatrick, William Hotz, James Dvorak and William Smothers. Flower helpers were Mrs. Kenneth Meyer, Mrs. William J. Pearson and Mrs. Jay Calef.
